Many readers of Eugene Petersen’s biblical paraphrase, The Message, remember his poignant rendition of the beatitude, “You’re blessed when you care. At the moment of being ‘care-full,’ you find yourselves cared for.” (KJV reads: Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.) This attitude of caring for each other is the general message we heard from Christian Science practitioners who were interested in getting together around the time of the Church Alive Summit in Chicago.
We’re glad to say we’ve heard from the Summit planners that their tentative agenda includes an informal gathering for post summit conversation on Saturday evening (April 29). What a great opportunity not only for practitioners and nurses to gather in informal conversation, but also for those interested in new Reading Room, lecture, and Sunday School activities, who will all have a chance to nurture each other in caring conversation.
After a full spiritual feast Friday evening and all day Saturday, it is good to have some time set aside for cherishing each other, for following through with some ideas that may have come up, and for acknowledging together the presence and action of the Holy Spirit among us. What a great time we’re being given for being “care-full” and finding ourselves “cared for.” Thanks to our Chicago planners for making this available.
Sounds wonderful!
Sending blessings for this healing activity.
I am so hopeful that our CS Mother Church can find a way for CS members and friends and visitors to have opportunities to fellowship.
Great Opportunity.
