An email has circulated in the Chicago area, in which an anonymous writer asks why “the disenfranchised were getting some focus [by the Christian Science Fellowship – Metro Chicago] that perhaps I felt our church members or church activities should get?” He humbly poses the idea that the question may arise from the perspective of the Prodigal Son’s “elder brother.” That is – why are the ones who wandered off getting the party, when the rest of us have been faithfully carrying the burden? The writer mentions his own soul-searching regarding church participation and concludes that the end result should “provide a means for blessing others, uplifting thought, and encouraging healing.” (more…)
