We’re happy to announce that the Des Plaines Christian Science Society has invited the Christian Science Fellowship-Metro Chicago to use their facility for our Gatherings on Sunday afternoons in the summer. Starting on June 27, we’ll meet there twice a month, from 2:00 – 3:00. And don’t forget – fellowship and refreshments follow each event. So, now you can mark your calendars, at least through July. That will be June 27, July 11, and July 25, starting at 2:00, at 48 N. Broadway, Des Plaines, IL, 60016. We’ll get the August dates as quickly as we can. Thanks, Des Plaines friends!

These Gatherings are designed to fulfill our Fellowship mission, and part of that mission statement includes the nourishing of healing. Most Christians throughout history have claimed healing as an essential aspect of Christianity, even though they differ widely on what that means. Some Christian churches give generously to hospitals and medical research; others encourage faith in God’s power to heal. Most Christians pray for the safety and health of their loved ones. And yet some Christians are frustrated with their prayers that do not result in healing. (more…)

  • Discussing our commitment to the relevance of Christian Science beyond ourselves
  • How to participate in our social media efforts
  • Further discussion of our identity as expressed in a Statement of Faith 

So if you feel these topics are important, be sure to put this meeting on your calendar.  Please note this is a corrected agenda from yesterday’s post.  Here is  the original meeting call with full Tuesday agenda.

Meanwhile, charting the course for such things as Bible study groups, Interfaith discussion, discussions on healing, parenting, service and community, youth groups, and more, will be on the agenda for a later meeting!
